An addition to a house on a busy suburban road. The project resembles an unfolded shed with a free-standing wall protecting a new landscape at the rear. Concrete steps and a timber deck help mitigate the external levels and improve access to the garden. The new roof creates a plane which partially replaces and extends the existing roofline to shade a large double-glazed window with views to the east. Internal arrangements revolve around the formal placement of the kitchen and the borrowing of space from the former hallway.
