A competition proposal for a new museum near Seoul to house the work of Korean-born artist Nam June Paik. The scheme is conceived in response to the site's topography and to the thematic qualities of Nam June Paik's work. Spaces are categorised into three experiential formats – Dark, Opaque and Transparent. Dark spaces contain functions relating to the viewing and curation of the artist's video works and are located in areas of the scheme to be excavated below ground. Opaque spaces contain programs relating to the artist's sculptural works utilising controlled daylight, while public areas and main circulation spaces are located within the Transparent zones, positioned according to the site's natural terrain and views.
